A friend of mine mentioned there is a place in wick ( Telford street) that will help cover costs for the survival course etc for going offshore...has anyone on here ever heard of this? My fella is wanting to do it but the initial cost is sooo expensive! There is a special offer on the now offering 3 courses for a grand but that's a lot o money well it is for us anyway!

3 courses?
You only need the BOSIET and MIST courses to get on a platform

I believe CASE used to (part) fund this many moons ago, not sure if they still do.

I think they would only provide funding to people with tranferrable skills though, sparkies, mechies etc, not just people wanting offshore as labourers. I'm sure a friend of mine had to put himself through a rigging/slinging course before they would fund the survival.

I think you are correct, you also had to be out of work
