Community work for disorderly conduct

A THURSO, who behaved in a disorder manner in a Thurso pub, was ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work in the community when he appeared at Wick Sheriff Court today.
Kenneth Mackay of Castlegreen Road, Thurso, pleaded guilty and admitted a number of previous convictions.
It was stated that everyone was “in good spirits” at the Grove Lounge in the town, on June 22. Suddenly, Mackay, who was under the influence of drink, began shouting and ended up struggling with customers trying to calm him down.
Sheriff Andrew Berry took into account the fact although Mackay (57) had a long history of offending, he had not been in trouble since 2003 and was currently seeking help for his drinking.
The sheriff said, however, that it was important the accused did not lapse back into a regular pattern of offending.

Denied travelling at 118mph

A WEYDALE man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.
John Munro (39) of Quarry Edge, Weydale, denies having reached a speed of 113mph in a 60mph speed limit, on the A9, near Georgemas, on May 10.
He is due to return to court on Friday.
