IMHO there is nothing wrong with reporting news, we can all then do what we can to ensure it doesn't happen again.

What I was objecting to earlier was folk fishing for gossip when no one knew the facts.

Gossip and unfounded rumours could cause unnecessary distress or embarrassment to an innocent person. Before commenting and theorising it is better to wait until the event is in the public domain through the media.
