Lotto card definitely up to scratch

A LUCKY woman from Thurso have won the top prize on a National Lottery scratch-card.
Sandra Swanson (48) and her 54-year-old husband, Glenn are £250k richer after her ‘Turquise’ gamble.
Mrs Swanson bought the card at their local supermarket D & M Fraser, on Castlegreen Road, in the town.
Mr Swanson was engrossed in playing golf on the Wii with his brother when she burst in to say she’d won.
Glen said: “Sandra could hardly get her words out, but Russell and I were far too engrossed in our golf to notice how flabbergasted she was. Eventually, we realised she had something big to tell us and when she broke the news we just couldn’t believe it.”
Mrs Swanson, who is a stay-at-home mum, frequently buys scratch cards but the most she had ever won up until now, was £200 so the big win was a dream come drue.
The family of five is planning a holiday in the near future to celebrate and the big win will also allow them to become homeowners for the first time.
Mr Swanson said: “Owning our own home will be the biggest bonus for us and something we could only have dreamed of doing before scooping this win. We are really excited about looking for a new house and being able to decorate it exactly the way we want to.”
The Swansons are the third Caithness couple to win handsomely on the Lottery in the past six months.
Alastair Cameron and his wife Isobel scooped the £500k Thunderball jackpot in March and John and Angela Sutherland won over £282,000 on EuroMillions in August. Both couples were from Wick.
