THTC = Total Heating Total Control.

The Hydro recently announced price rises of an average 11%. Unfortunately, the unit cost for THTC customers is up by 17.5% (standard) and 16.6% (off peak). It beats me why the rates for all tariffs don't move in synch - electricity is electricity.

Some good news though - you can get 2% off until Jan 1 2014 just by completing a quick application:

what i don't understand is why the electricity prices are not the same through out the country. It was not until I change my supplier that i found out that the price you pay depends on where you live. Guess where the highland region is in the price league, at the top of very near the top.

Watch the " small print" with this "offer"

If You leave the Fixed Discount January 2014 product at any time on or before 1 November 2012 an exit fee of £80 will
be applied to your energy account. If You leave at any time on or after 2 November 2012 an exit fee of £60 will apply. We
reserve the right to apply the termination fee to either Your electricity or gas account.

Most folks on THTC will not be changing suppliers, it is only available from Scottish Hydro, and is usually only in houses where there is no other form of heating available, so not too big a problem really!

To change to a different tariff with a different supplier needs changes of meters at the customers cost.
