Marathon record bid by blind man
AN exceptional attempt on the John O’ Groats-Lands End marathon route is being undertaken by a blind man, this week.
Dave Heeley who lost his sight when he was 14-years-old plans to run and cycle his way to the finishing post in 10 days and raise £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
If he succeeds, the Birmingham man will become the first blind person to complete the famous course.
Among his sponsors are Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City football clubs.
Dave, who is married with two of a family, is scheduled to reach Lands End on August 20.
