Academy lose out against Coasters

PLENTY of chances but none that produced a goal.
That was the bottom line for Wick Academy away to Lossiemouth who grabbed the only goal of the game in the 71st minute and all three points.
A turnaround for the Coasters who were on the receiving end of a back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Scorries at the end of last season and had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 3-3 tussle with Clach in the opening game at Harmsworth Park, today. Not the start new Wick manager, Dave Kirkwood-or the fans- would have hoped for.
Academy could have done with the shooting boots of their former striker, Craig Gunn, who rattled in no less that four goals for Elgin City to get the division three side's season off to a flier, today. Their opponents, Berwick Rangers, got a consolation goal.
Wick’s derby club, Brora, went down 4-0 away to Cove, to complete a sorry day for the league's two north clubs.
Academy face a tough challenge on Saturday when league champions, Buckie Thistle come calling.
Brora entertain Clach at home.
