Talking to someone at work today who was working at Dounreay with me in 85 and he told me he's put some photos on facebook from when he was there. They include the Caithness Live Aid, underage drinkers, a 5 a side tourny outside the Viewfirth and the Queen Mother? Anyway hes given permission to show them, only trouble is I cant do the link thingy but you can view them by logging on to facebook and type the following.

Paul Leviston Dalton in Furness
Then click onto the photos on the left hand side
Then click on to the See all photos
then click onto Caithness Live Aid.

If anyone wants to post a few on here for others to see, feel free.

Mods can you keep this in the General section for a while and maybe if anyone posts any of them, move it. Cheers.

Baz, I can't see Photos on the left hand side. Could he have his Facebook set so only Friends can see Photos?

Nope, I'm with SIS; "Photos" is definitely not listed on the left hand side. I reckon it must be edited to exclude nosey people like me etc.!
Paul must only allow "Friends" to see them.

Well, I'm not one of his facebook friends and I can see them.

I can select one of the photos in his posts and get the rest of that series everytime so unless we can find a posting with 1985 pictures on it I think we've had it...... I have looked back in time on his page but he could have added the 1985 at any stage.

Would have been interesting.... thanks Bazeye for thinking of it....

Baz, I should have been a bit clearer in my previous post, but I can confirm what Torvaig sees.

I managed to navigate to Paul's Facebook albums page, but I just get the message:

This content is currently unavailable

The page you requested cannot be displayed at the moment. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.

Maybe you can see the photos because you're a friend of a friend of Paul's.

I would have liked to have seen the photos, thanks for trying.

Could be that. We have one mutual friend. Ah well.......

Instead of clicking on Photos, click on Wall. Then scroll down a bit to the photos with 1985 reference. I don't know Paul but I can see the pictures that way.

The only person I recognise is James Sutherland who used to work for J & J M Shearers years ago. I didn't know many Thurso folks way back in the eighties!

I think pictures 5 - 12 are all ZROX are they not? I recognise James Sutherland on vox & Gordy Macintosh on bass, & am pretty sure that's Sandy Christie on drums in the santa hat lol, just not sure if that's Davie Craig on guitar - looks a bitty like him but can anyone confirm or give another name?

Pic 32 & 33 - Phil Plummer on right? Apologies if not...

Could be because the lad with the tash in the middle is Col Plummer who we sometimes got a lift back to Thurso from Dounreay in his "A" team type van.. must be brothers? the lad on the left was a sparky working for Vickers called MIke Chesters from Dalton in furness. Havent seen him for a few years though, think hes at Sellafield now.

Good grief. That scrawny wretch is none other than Spike Tait. He of Pultneytowns premier punks British Standard. Band were Billy Munro vocals, Jimmy Macnab drums, Raymond Trusty guitar and Spike on bass.

This was the Live aid in Wick in the old Dept of Environment hangar at the Airport.

How did you find them sids?

My own Facebook home page has a search box. Typed "Paul Leviston" in.

My own Facebook home page has a search box. Typed "Paul Leviston" in.That's what I did, and I found his page. However, he didn't add the 1985 pics to his Wall until later in the afternoon, and (I assume) that's why I couldn't find them.

Thanks again for finding them.

The photos are indeed a blast from the past. I can confirm that this was the Wick Live Aid concert held in the airport hangar in 1985. Photos 5-12 are indeed Z-ROX - but before they were Z-ROX (1987) they were first called Close Action (after a Big Country song). Photos 13-16 may be Wick band One Card Trick. Photos 21-30 are definitely Wick band British Standard.

The old "Close Action" scrapbook confirms that the concert took place on 31 August 1985. Scanned pages below include press cuttings and the second page cutting confirms the band line up on the day.

Lol Farrell. I was his apprentice for a while. The only ones on the team I can remember are the far left is Tony Oxley (oxo), the one holding the bottle is Neil Richardson (Ricco) and the lad with the beard holding the shield is Gaz White. Think Gaz or Ricco, or maybe both of them played a few games for Thurso Swifts while they were in Thurso.
