I've updated this thread in the Photography forum, but in case any Orgers have missed this ...

Science O3, which runs the annual Caithness International Science Festival, is holding a photography competition, based on next year's Festival theme of "Energy in Caithness". We've received some excellent entries so far and the competition is open until September 2, 2011.

As the competition is also open to children (and with still two weeks of school holidays to run!), perhaps some young photographers out there might like to get snapping and submit an entry.

There is a £100 cash prize for the over 18 winner, whilst our P1 - P4, P5 - P7 and 11-18 years winners will receive an hour's photography tutorial with award-winning photographer John Baikie. Entries can be submitted by email to scienceo3@kelvinprobe.com or by mail to KP Technology, 12A Burn Street, Wick, KW1 5EH.

More details can be found on the Science O3 website at http://www.science03.org/index.html.

We’ve received some great entries in our “Energy in Caithness” competition so far. We are also pleased to announce that, based on feedback we have received, we are expanding the competition in the following ways:

1. We are creating a separate “Open” category for entries, open to photographs based on any subject. We are looking for a selection of your best photos that highlight your skill as a photographer - travel, nature, landscapes and people … the possibilities are endless. A £100 cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the “Open” category and runners-up will receive book tokens.

2. In both the “Energy in Caithness” and “Open” categories, we will be accepting up to 5 photos per entrant.

3. The closing date for the competition has been extended to Friday, 16th September 2011.
So, if you have some excellent photographs that you would like to share with us, send them, along with your full details to scienceo3@kelvinprobe.com.

Some of the entries received to date can be viewed on the Science O3 facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Science-O3/165540440174348
