I know that bacon has water injected into it, basically to make money.. Tesco is now a waste of time for bacon with less/no water; they used to have Ayrshire Bacon, which suited the bill, but no more.
Tried Harold's in Thurso, they have the pre-packed stuff, just tried it and it's got water.. Off into Thurso to try Bews; they cut their own, so we will see.
BUT there is hope on the horizon.. The EU (of all places) are going to make bacon producers put the amount of water if above 5% - let's face it bacon has naturally about 30% water anyway and with the 'stuff' they offer us now it's all 40% water!
Of course we can get it out of the area, but am trying local first - if anyone knows of a local supplier, (that can slice THICK - let me know..
