What's goin' on Messer's Fernie???

Why have advertisements appeared on the .org? I want them gone! (please)

What income is generated by these and could this be offset by a small subscription / donation fee???

And yes I know ad's have been here, but not on every page (especially the general section).
And yes I could just scroll down a bitty more, but between checking fer grammor, abusing my tax dodged wealth, updating fizzbook whilst me kids get plastered on alcypops and reading the Groat while drivin'. It is a bit much fer me fingers to do.

What ads are these - I've never seen any?

Oh, maybe that's because I use firefox and "ad block plus" keeps websites ad free as they should be :)

Every page I open on the ORG has adverts....some of them from Scotland/ some from Canada.....
First several lines at the top.....
Just noticed ads at the bottom/ lots of advertising on every page.

I feel it is my duty as a good capitalist consumer to look at each and every add diligently. What's the matter with you? Some kinda commy?

I have ads too. It will be to generate some income from them.

That's it, I have had enough! Why don't I see any adverts? Why am I being picked on?

Am I a lesser being than my fellow (and fellowess) orgers? Have I no rights at all?

What do I have to do to get attention around here? Why does no-one listen?

Why am I being ignored. Why am I not being supported in my having social responsibilities?

I am repeatedly being left out of the loop......oops, forgot my tablets again.....

Why say so? Isn't that why caithness.org is free to us.........'bloggers'. What is wrong with ads? They are 'no bother'! And what is wrong with slimming, Viagra and such.
On some sites I visit, they ask that you visit them so that they can get the 'hit', and the financial aid.

What is really annoying are the ads for companies which don't deliver up here.

Eh, you don't actually have to do anything. They're just ads. They won't break your computer, and they don't cost any money. Just scroll past them.

And let's be fair here, they're a lot less obtrusive than those on many, many other sites.

And with the right settings on here, the photos of folks kids, and their signature "comments" disappear too!

Thought I would bring this Thread back up.
I have found quite an increase in the amount of ads on the Org.
Used to be a couple of lines, but now full colour and at the top and the bottom of the pages.
Used to be just Caithness, but now I am getting pretty nice ones from Toronto which is my area.

There has got to be a good profit in these.......

The only ad I am seeing is the one for A Weber and they want dollars when you sign up for their product; even if only a sample.

I only work in sterling.

I've no objection to the org being an advertising tool. After all, we don't pay anything for its use thereof whether we are just chatting or buying/selling. The people who own the org are entitled to merchant their product.

I certainly don't expect it to be available to us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Fernies' expense.

I didn't mean they didn't deserve it, but I am sure that some Public money/grants or whatever went into it somewhere along the line.
They would not have been able to afford it otherwise.....
And the amount of time spent starting it up, and then keeping it up to date/ I remember speaking to Bill Fernie years ago and he confirmed that it was/is very time consuming, and then there are all the associated fees etc., with running an on line sysyem, especially with how it has expanded so much.
It's a pretty good web site for Caithness!

These 'new' ads cause a delay in scrolling down as they load, but like everthing else I'll ge used to it (I suppose)

I find the org gets in my way of enjoyment of the ads ;)
