Pentland Brass Band will be hosting a Brass Day on Saturday 30th July 2011 at Thurso West Church. Our guest conductor for the day will be Susan Dingle, well known in the Highlands as conductor of the Highland Chamber Orchestra and the Highland Region Youth Orchestra.

All brass players are welcome to attend - brass band includes cornets, Eb tenor horns, Bb baritone horns, euphoniums, trombones, Eb and Bb Basses (tubas) - for this day we will also be welcoming trumpet players and F horn players to join the band. There will be parts for bass clef readers as required.

For experienced players, rehearsals begin at 10am. Juniors and beginners can join us from 1pm and the day will culminate in an informal concert at 4pm. Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch and a music stand if you have one.

The day is free to school children and we ask adult participants to donate £5 toward the cost of the venue and conductor.

Repertoire for the day includes two new pieces written especially for our band - "Pentland Brass" by Kenneth Ketteringham and "Alexander Bain" by Katrina Gordon. The juniors will join the band to rehearse a variety of easier pieces including Hoe Down, Red Rock March, Napoleon's March, Keel Row, With Cat Like Tread, Summer Samba, Tiger Rag and Washington Post.

We would like to know if you are planning to attend - please contact katrinathurso@aol.com to let us know which instrument you play. Looking forward to seeing you there! :D
