I need to find an emblem/crest for Caithness may be a silly question, but does it have one?

I don't set much store by such things, but isn't there a cock?

Yes there is:

I guess a clan crest for the local landowners is the best you'll get, unless the Tourist Board has invented something.

These appear to be designs put forward for an emblem, so not official, some good ones amongst them.

The last two Caithness Crests were issued to Caithness District Council in 1976 and prior to that to Caithness County Council both of thses crests are on display on the Stair case of Wick Town Hall. These crest have now been superceded by the Crest of Highland Council which incorporates parts of the 8 former local authorities it replaced.

Only the Lord Lyon can issue crests and the old caithness Crest can no longer be displayed or used and it is an offince to do so Both the Caithness Crest are similar with the main part being a sailing boat or ship with what looks to be a raven or crow on the sale. The county Council one has a cockrel standing over the boat. the cockeral does not feature in the District Council
