Three from Wick accused of assault

THREE Wick people are facing allegations of assault.
The trio, who appeared on petition at the town’s sheriff court, were Douglas Wilkie (26) Kayrn Swan (29) and 17-year-old Ashley Caley.
Wilkie is accused of three allegations of assault in which he is alleged to have used a weapon; Swan and Caley are each facing one charge. Two of the alleged victims are female.
All three made no plea or declaration. Wilkie was remanded in custody, pending further inquiries.
Swan and Caley were released on bail. The court appearances follow incidents in the town at the weekend.

Cannabis resin possession

A WICK man was fined £180 after he admitted possessing a small quantity of cannabis resin.
It was discovered after John Williamson (46) was detained at the local police station on Friday. The offence involving .2 grammes of the Class B drug, occurred while the accused was on bail.
Williamson, of Kennedy Terrace, Wick, also admitted several previous convictions.

Attempted to choke wife alleged

A THURSO man is to stand trial on a charge of assault.
David Blackburn, of Royal Terrace, Thurso, is accused of putting his hands round his wife Margaret’s neck and attempting to choke her, pulling her mouth open and pushing her against a wall to her injury.
The assault is alleged to have taken place at The Croft, Achorn Road, Dunbeath, on Friday.
Blackburn (48) had his trial fixed for September 27.
