The scary thing is, they need to do this so that they don't get sued. A company were sued because someone put their camper van into cruise control, then went into back to make lunch and it crashed - I'm pretty sure they won because the manual didn't say you had to remain behind the wheel. It was an american case, but it would appear that the british are following suit and suing over the pettiest (IMO) things.

its sad isnt it, everywhere you turn there is someone trying to make money out of suing someone else[disgust]

One of the worst things has to be all the 'no win, no fee' companies. If people had to pay for the legal aspect they would be less inclined to sue over petty little things.

This is a sad byproduct of the american litigation culture like the guy who sued because The literature didn't say he couldn't dry his poodle in the microwave.

This post is in no way meant to be an insult to our american friends as most of them are quite intelligent.;)

Ok, maybe not, as they say 'you can't believe everything you read in papers', but there have been other equally silly lawsuits.

I have an instruction book for a Motherboard which lists the contents and specifications in numerous different languages, including either Chinese or Japanese, I'm not sure which.
Now, being a reasonable sort of person (Stop sniggering you lot!) I do understand that speaking very very slowly and very very loudly in English does not mean that every Nationality in the World will understand you so I can see the reason for the translations.

Having said that, the people who produced the book suffer from an equally stupid misconception.
It would appear that they believe that pages which contain the contents etc., with Roman Numerals at the bottom need to be translated, whereas the instructions for installing the Board, numbered with Arabic Numerals, mean that foreigners gain an immediate command of the English language and therefore need no translation whatsoever.

Can anybody suggest a reasonable explanation for this because it has me completely confused. :confused
