Best to read the story, but basically Scotland’s finances stronger are than the UK and have been for the past few years. That's the from the official GERS figures not any party political stuff. Actually GERS has been criticised by some as being Unionist.

I read the story, which is of course heavily loaded with SNP government spin.

I tried to find the report itself, but failed. Did you find it?

A slightly more analytical version from the BBC's Douglas Fraser is HERE (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-13883761) and the Scotsman's version is HERE (http://www.scotsman.com/news/Analysis-North-Sea-revenue-.6789703.jp).

If you want a rampant Unionist view to balance SNP propaganda, look at the Record HERE (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics-news/2011/06/23/independent-scotland-would-have-been-14-billlion-in-the-red-last-year-governments-figures-show-86908-23221290/).

Edit: the link to the report is on the page RecQuery posted a link to. How did I miss that?

I can find the 2009-2010 version (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Economy/GERS), but that's all - there are people who would say both the BBC and the Scotsman especially are unionist.

That's why I was looking for the original report.

The story is based on the 2009-10 report. The 2010-11 one will be out this time next year, I guess.

I am rather baffled by the references to Oil and Gas revenues as I had always understood these to be part of The Crown Estate and therefore not the income of any one country with The United Kingdom which would alter any figures by a considerable amount.
If I am wrong in this assumption no doubt some one will be able to correct me
