Container plants

Novice here,what container climbing plants are easy to grow and be alright to leave out over winter up here in Caithness? :confused

Personally I wouldn't advise leaving any container plants out over winter up here unless you protect the plants with fleece or straw or don't really mind losing them. Having said that I leave loads out lol. I did leave my Jasmine out last year though and lost it.
Many Clematis are easy pot climbers and will stand a bad frost (mine survived outside in a pot all winter) as long as they're planted deep enough, they will then regrow from the base if the plant is killed.
I have a climbing Hydrangea that is left out too and that has survived allsorts.

Theres a lovely Yellow Clematis growing next to the greenhouse in the Castle of Mey Garden,looks to have been there a long time so must be very hardy.
