Apple Tree Polinating

I realise that apple trees are not grown in Caithness, but wonder if anyone knows about the subject of apple tree pollination.

We live in suburban Halifax, Nova Scotia and have two similar apple trees in blossom. I have heard that there are few pollinators (bees) in the area.

Can we manually pollinate identical trees?

Any "how-to" instructions would be appreciated.

I manually do tomatoes and peppers. I just use a soft paint brush (or if I'm feeling lazy just my little finger). I should imaging that doing a whole tree is quite time consuming though...
