My wife and I are planning a trip to the Caithness area and will be there March 10-12. My research leads me to conclude that my gggg grandfather and grandmother were from Wick. They migrated to the Commonwealth of Virgina in 1752. One of the purposes of my trip is to find any documentation of their presence in the Caithness area.
This ancestor's name was John Ogg and the Parochial Registers for Co. of Caithness Wick 43/1 records a christening of a John Ogg, father William on 14 March 1725. Further, the Parochial Registers for Co. of Caithness Thurso 41/1 shows a christening of William on 24 Dec 1701 and I believe that to be his father and my ggggg grandfather.
I would appreciate any assistance that anyone in the area might provide that would assist me in this quest.
