View Full Version : the rapture tomorrow?

i dont know if anyone else has seen this in the news.. but its been weighing on my mind a wee bittie..
i mean one part of me wants to say what nutters.. really?
and then another small part of me says.. well thats what they said when noah built the arc..
its all very philosophical!
it gets really confusing because people can take scripture and twist it any way they want it.
the bible tells us not even the angels in heaven know when the ends days are.. and Jesus said he didn't know that only God knew a time and date.
however, if the rapture is tomorrow.. and all of Gods chosen are swept away.. and then it all ends in oct. was nice knowing you guys! *grins*
no matter how mad the whole thing sounds it has made me think.. well there is nothing i can do if the world is ending.. and well.. we will just have a nice family night tonight and if we arnt here tomorrow.. oh well.. but then again.. how good do you have to be to be raptured? so many questions?! i dont think ive been faithful enough!
anywho.. heres a link to the pamphlet its all very doomsday ... enjoy the read *G*

Brandy, the 'Rapture' is nothing more than a clumsy attempt at mind control by idiots.

"Do as we say or you're out" is what 'the Rapture' is all about.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense will ignore this dictatorial rubbish and get on with living a decent life.

Google 'Pet care' and 'rapture' together for a good laugh:Razz

Christians (various sects) have predicted the end of the world/the rapture/the apocalypse about 800 times in the past 2000 years. If you included all predications for the end of the world and not just the Christian ones I think it average out to about 10 a year.

According to Christians the world will still continue for a while but all the true believers will just disappear, when it inevitably doesn't happen I think we should say to them that only the people who went missing on the 21st were true believers and that God doesn't want the rest of them so they should just give it up.

I once asked a minister about this. The one will be taken one left behind thing and specifically about the children because they have not been able to 'give their lives to christ' or 'ask Jesus into their heart'. He said that because they had not reached maturity they had not reached full awareness and so would be taken anyway. I then asked whether this would apply to non believers, do they not believe because they lack maturity and so have not reached full awareness and he said it very well might.

I like to think of Jesus giving everyone a last chance, sort of knocking at your door and saying ' hey guys! I do exist after all, are you coming along to the party?' surely His love would swallow non believers up and they would be sort of drunk on it and I seem to remember that when you have had a few you ALWAYS think a party is a good idea.

Watch this space lol

I think we'll all be safe. On a more serious note, I reckon the people who start these "end of the world" stories are guilty of inciting public unrest, of upsetting gullible and more fragile people, and of incompetence and mendacity in their interpretation of Holy Writ. In the good old days, that would have meant "heresy", and a longish but terminal dinner-date with a pile of blazing straw: as I am a great believer in "consequences", and not a great fan of capital punishment, it might be a good idea to put these swivel-eyed doom-mongerers in the pokey for a while, if only for being twats.

I think every Christian sect and variation has predicted the end of the world at some point. Then again the US has some particularly crazy Christians (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/20/us/20rapture.html?_r=1) in places. Part of me thinks is a form of child abuse.

Professor Brian Cox estimates that the end of the world will happen somewhere between 2 Billion and 3 Billion Years time.

I think he is far more believable than the so called Judgement Day on the 21st May 2011.

I will do exactly the same as I always do on a Saturday, have a long lie in and if Judgement Day arrives in the Morning then I will just sleep though and miss it. :D

The scriptures mention Christ stating that no one knows when I will return. Scripture goes even further explaining about people trying to predict when He will return.
For that reason I don't believe it will be tomorrow. Too many people stating this makes it improbable. I have always maintained for believers to always be ready because we don't know when He will return.

My dear departed ex mother in law had a wee verse for worrying timeslike these

You have only two things to worry about
You are either well or you are ill
If you are well you have nothing to worry about
If you are ill you only have two things to worry about
You'll either get better or you'll die
If you get better you have nothing to worry about
If you die you only have two things to worry about
You will either go to heaven or to hell
If you go to heaven you have nothing to worry about
If you go to hell you will be so busy saying hello to people you once knew you won't have time to worry about anything!

If only the virtuous will be taken, maybe we just haven't noticed any population drop in Caithness.

On the other hand do you think maybe the population of Portgower were the trial run by the Big Man? It would explain the lack of population!

Well what's supposed to happen is the true believers will all disappear leaving behind their clothing etc and the world will continue for another 6 months with the rest still on it then end.

I was tempted to get up early and lay some old clothes around the streets in poses just to troll people.

John Little
21-May-11, 09:03
Of course the fact that nobody has disappeared might simply mean that there were no virtuous and that the earth, true believers included, was populated, after all, by complete scoundrels.

If that is the case then all the rest of us have to do is wait around and it will all end suddenly in a puff of smoke.

Might as well party then...

Although, thinking about, this particular branch of Christianity may have there own interpretation?
"The Bible is very clear that there will be animals in heaven:
Isa 65:25 5 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD. NIV"

TIMING OF IMPORTANT EVENTS IN HISTORY
11,013 BC—Creation. God created the world and man (Adam and Eve).
4990 BC—The flood of Noah’s day. All perished in a worldwide flood. Only Noah, his wife, and his 3 sons and their wives survived in the ark (6023 years from creation).
7 BC—The year Jesus Christ was born (11,006 years from creation).
33 AD—The year Jesus Christ was crucified and the church age began (11,045 years from creation; 5023 calendar years from the flood).
1988 AD—This year ended the church age and began the great tribulation period of 23 years (13,000 years from creation).
1994 AD—On September 7th, the first 2300-day period of the great tribulation came to an end and the latter rain began, commencing God’s plan to save a great multitude of people outside of the churches (13,006 years from creation).
2011 AD—On May 21st, Judgment Day will begin and the rapture (the taking up into heaven of God’s elect people) will occur at the end of the 23-year great tribulation. On October 21st, the world will be destroyed by fire (7000 years from the flood; 13,023 years from creation).

EDIT: The story (http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/radio-host-says-worlds-955120.html) about him changing the date. For anyone too lazy:

(1). Through chatting with a friend over what he acknowledged was a very difficult weekend, it dawned on him that instead of the biblical Rapture in which the faithful would be swept up to the heavens, May 21 had instead been a "spiritual" Judgement Day, which places the entire world under Christ's judgement, he said.

(2). "The globe will be completely destroyed in five months, he said, when the apocalypse comes. But because God's judgement and salvation were completed on Saturday, there's no point in continuing to warn people about it, so his network will now just play Christian music and programs until the final end on Oct. 21."

Despite point number two him/the network are still accepting money and running ads. As I've said before I feel sorry for the kids of the idiot parents swept up in this.
