Test drive trouble at local junction

William Gunn ran into trouble while test-driving a car he intended buying.
The offshore worker pulled out of a junction in Wick, and collided with an oncoming car, the town's Justice of the Peace court heard.
Gunn admitted driving carelessly, in Macarthur, Street, Wick, on September 18, last year and was fined £160.
Senior fiscal depute, David Barclay said that the accused felt that the other driver, was, perhaps, partly to blame but accepted that he (Gunn) was responsible for ensuring that the road was clear.
Solicitor Jo MacDonald said that the damage has been “fairly minor”. In addition to the fine, Gunn was disqualified from driving for 56 days.

Costly cannabis

POLICE who raided Andrew Harper’s home discovered two small pieces of cannabis weighing two-and-a-half grammes.
The 18-year-old admitted possession and was fined £75.
The offence occurred on June 7, last year at unemployed Harper’s home in Girnigoe Street, Wick.
