It has been reported that NATO have flown over 5,300 "sorties" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13337131) over Libya. (no doubt ensuring an ever increasing list of rebuilding contracts for Western building companies once conflict is over)
This is in addition to supplying the rebels with covert ground forces, body armour and communication equipment.
The net result has been a stalemate, with Gaddafi still in control of Libya and the rebels making little or no progress in toppling him.
In Syria meanwhile protesters against Assad come under daily attack from tank and artillery fire and the NATO response is:
Threats of sanctions and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon calling on Syria to take "..a softer line.." (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13358201)
Is Gaddafi a bigger despot than Assad, or is that Libyan oil is more important to the West
