Praise for football academy man Rod as he steps down

Rod Houston, the official responsible for managing and developing the Highland Football Academy at Dingwall over the past six years, stepped down this week.
Rod was seconded to manage the facility from his substantive post as depute head teacher at Golspie High School.

Ian Murray, Head of Community Learning and Leisure said " Rod joined the facility at a crucial point of development of the academy and because of him, we now have a well used, well respected hub for the youth game, right up to performance football. His experience, wit and “can do” attitude will be sadly missed across the Highlands as well as on the Western Isles and Orkney where he played an important role in the development of the game."
Angus Dick, chair of the HFA Board, "The Board would like to wish Rod all the best as he heads off for a well-earned retirement. His contribution to the facility and the regional football partnership has been immense."
Graeme Sutherland, Scottish Football Association Regional Manager, said: “Rod has made a huge contribution to football development across the Highlands and Islands. His influence in developing the youth action plan for football has been vital and we all wish him well in his retirement. He will be missed by all.”
