We are looking for a van to hire for a couple of days to move some furniture quite a long distance. The prices we have been quoted to hire so far make it almost cheaper to buy one. Apart from buying any other suggestions anyone?

When looking to hire a van a few years ago it worked out a lot cheaper to pick up a van from budget rental in Inverness than to rent locally.

I think you could get a Transit sized van for about £40 a day with no limitation on mileage. We tried Dunnets in Wick but they weren't interested in hiring to us for a high milage journey.

Even with the price of fuel and extra time driving to and from Inverness it was more worthwhile than hiring locally.
