"A top executive at a German steelmaker has been convicted of murder for a 2007 plant blaze that killed seven workers in Italy. Five other company officials have been convicted on manslaughter charges and sentenced to up to 13-and-a-half years in prison."


Interesting. Will this herald a new dawn in EU-wide H&S legislation, where those who gain the most when their operation goes right finally start to take responsibility when it goes wrong?

Nothing new in that.corporate manslaughter (England) or corporate homicide in Scotland has been a charge available to HSE for several years now. In fact I think couple of people were jailed short ago for their part in a fire in a fireworks factory in England where two or three firefighters lost their lives
