Seabird

Sunday was not only very warm but it also brought about a bumper number of sightings.
Thurso Bay and Holborn Head gave kas large numbers of Risso's Dolphins and White-beaked Dolphins.
She also got some cracking pictures after racing to Holborn Head where Dolphins are known to come very close to the Head.
Harbour Porpoise reported Dunnet Bay by RNLI crewe.
Harbour Porpoise at Whaligoe Steps.
Risso's Dolphins and Harbour Porpoise at Clyth near lighthouse.

If anyone does have the good fortune of a sighting please PM them to me for entry on the local Caithness web site, or enter them on the form available on the web site.

Many Thanks
Colin

Distant White-beaked dolphin (these do not normally come very close in)

A distant breaching Risso Dolphin. It does not look very big as I am high up and the dolphin was quite far away, however they can be up to 4m long and weigh up to 500Kg.

These Rissos came in close at Holborn Head, I could not believe my luck.
There was three but the other only surfaced briefly each time as the other two went under.
