A Scottish Parliament Candidates Question Time has been organised by the "Wick Wants Work" campaign. All welcome at the Assembly rooms on Tuesday the 26th of April at 7pm.
Please come along, hear what is being said and have your say about the issues that are important to you.
We will be asking some questions about the proposed closure of the tax office and the employment situation in general but it is an opportunity for everyone to quiz the 4 prospective candidates.

This sounds like it will be worthwhile to see what everyone is saying. How many candidates are there and will they all be there?

Just a reminder about this hustings event taking place next Tuesday night at 7pm.

As previously reported the HMRC are determined to close their office in Wick with the loss of 20 jobs. The staff are committed to continue to fight this decision and have started the Wick Wants Work campaign with the aim of lobbying both the Westminster and Holyrood parliaments to increase the number of government jobs in Caithness as a start in supporting the economy as the decommissioning of Dounreay gathers pace.

The latest Highland league table shows Wick at the top, unfortunately this is not in football but in the numbers claiming Job seekers allowance and for the long term unemployed. The % unemployed for Wick is close to double the Highland average and a third higher than the Scottish average.

As part of the campaign the PCS union has organised a question time event with the four Scottish parliamentary candidates in attendance and this will be an opportunity for everyone concerned about employment prospects in the county to quiz the candidates and hear what they say.
