I was in DR Simpsons on saturday and purchased the census index for 1841 ,it covers south of wick and there was another there on the shelf. Its Wick parish book 2 and only cost me £8,hope this helps.

Morning Tony

You can access the census information from Sarclet by going to the FREECEN web site.

1841 census. ED7 page5. Starts with James Gunn, M, 40, farmer, so if you search for him, this will give you the first family in the village. Census place is Wick. Then you just go to the next household until you get to the end of the village which is at page 10. Do the same for the following years starting with the person I have indicated. In the 1841 census the address is only recorded at the beginning of each page, hence the reason why the address is blank on most of the households.

1851 census. ED5 page 29 schedule 98 is the start of Sarclet with the family of John Webster, M, 38 ,fisherman. The village ends at page 35 schedule 87. Loch of Sarclet and hillside of Sarclet come before the village and start at page 25 schedule 87.

1861 census. ED4 page 28 schedule 122. James Miller, M, 55, and the village ends at page 34 schedule 146. Lochside of Sarclet follows.

1871 census. ED4 page 7 schedule 29. David Campbell, M, 45. Village ends on page 19 schedule 82.

Hope that is all clear and enjoy.
