Are Pit Bulls dangerous even when not trained to be so? My nephew has a puppy and has told us that he will not grow up to be a mean dog unless taught to be so.

In the UK the Kennel Club has issued guidelines here (http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/838/pg_dtl_art_news/pg_hdr_art/pg_ftr_art) The Pit Bull is regarded as a dangerous breed under the terms of Section 1. The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. So the law discourages ownership of Pit Bulls over here. Of course opinions are polorised with compelling arguements on both sides but at the end of the day the owner has to decide if it is worth taking a chance that their dog will NEVER attack someone. Pit Bulls were historically bred to display dominance and aggression toward other dogs. Who is to say they won't display the same dominance and aggression toward a neighbour's child?

who ever lets pit bulls near kids clearly is lacking some serious grey matter., king charles spaniels are what you need, not the canine equivalent of the portugese man o war
