My great grandfather James Peterkin born 1840 in Grange Banffshire farmed in the Ditches of Rumster while living at Lower Rumster, Latheron where he drowned (recorded as supposed drowning)in a dam in the area on 3rd December 1902. I am wanting to find more about his death, other than on his death certificate? I am to visit Caithness in July from Australia and would like to find any newspaper reports or police records of his death? Would anyone be able to advise as to the best place to seek this information? Thanks

Try Wick Library judipete. They sent me a copy of my great uncle's obituary from the Caithness Courier 1939.
