Woodcock can be found all over caithness but they will not arrive in the County until after the 1st full moon in November. The best option to obtain shooting is to ask the farmers for permission to shoot them.

dpw39.... May I ask the reason why you want to shoot them?

At a guess I would say to eat them!

Why should anyone want to eat them? Isnt there enough food on the supermarket shelves? If ever the day comes when there is no food on the supermarket shelves then I would understand why someone would want to shoot them. :(

This is not a debate about the rights or wrongs about shooting game.
Someone asked a question and I replied. If you want to start a debate on the ethics of hunting then I suggest you start your own thread on the subject and noy butt in on someone elses genuine query.

I am assured Larks Tongues are exquisite but it costs an awful lot on cartridges before you shoot enough for a decent meal.

dpw39, ask some of the local gamekeepers, they might be more helpful.
