After 30+ years of defending foxes from the accusations that they take healthy lambs, I saw footage today which made me change my mind.

Wildlife feeding on other wild life is not new. Foxes are just another species of wildlife that needs to get fed when they are hungry.

Well I grew up on a farm in Caithness and I can tell you they do take lambs, but not many.

It takes a big man to admit when they're wrong.

I salute you!

The sheep get their own back. But only if they have a frying pan !

I wonder where they got the inspiration for this rather amusing wee tale? If foxes don't take lambs in the real world, I wonder where they dreamt up this (therefore) unlikely scenario from?

That aside, some brilliant animation (as usual) from Aardman!

I'm not sure if mr Fox thought Scotland were going to be like lambs at the slaughter today at Twickenham, but he turned out just in case.

A fox stands on the pitch during the anthems before the Six Nations rugby union match between England and Scotland at Twickenham, London, Sunday March 13, 2011. Officials have been called upon to usher a fox off the pitch at Twickenham, minutes before kickoff in the Six Nations match between England and Scotland.

Yes. Why does or did anyone feel they should "defend" them? Foxes aren't evil- they are animals. If you have lambs or ducks and foxes cause a problem, you have to deal with it, even if it's "not fair" to foxes.

Just last week near the Kyle of Tongue I was witness to a fox being attack and killed by two Sea eagles, I was just astonished. So foxes take lambs, Sea eagles take foxes, lambs anything what they can get their beak and talons into. Highland folk law suggests Sea eagles have been known to take small children before they were pursicuted to extinction in the Highlands but now making a slow comeback!

Err... it's wake up and smell the coffee time.
The film which I posted a link to, is an animation starring Shaun The Sheep, Timmy The Lamb and an unnamed fox!

All characters in the film are entirely imaginary, and any resemblance to animals living or dead or actual events is purely coincidental.
