I've just been reading about Galileo's biggest mistake. I had to look it up because I'd not heard of it. Evidently, Galileo thought the tides were caused by the Earth's motion around the sun, which initially seemed an elementary mistake for such a great man to make. But then I realised he was working in pre-Newtonian times and therefore didn't know how to work out why he was wrong. That was interesting. Thank you.

Why do things like this not appear in the whats on section too!
Nearly missed this and it looks fun for all ages with all the different bits on offer.

For the most part it is up to organisers to put their events into the Whats On section on Caithness.org

There are currently 620 entries in the What's On showing what is coming up over the next few months.

It may be that not everyone realises just how many folk check that section.

The fact it is free and items appear on the front page automatically on the day of the event is a good reason to put events in there.

The Whats On also appears in a number of other sections such as the business index, arts index, sports index and the archived front page sections to name but a few. This means folk have a good chance of seeing events that are on or coming up.

Some groups and businesses us it regularly so it must be successful for them. Certainly the more events that are listed the more it is useful both for the organisers and for folk looking for entertainment or places to go and things to do.

Finally the good thing from organiser and hard pressed groups budgets is that the What's On is FREE. Just complete the online form at http://whatson.caithness.org/submissions.php

All entries are scrutinised before they go on to ensure no nonsense or other dodgy items are not listed. They are usually authorised within 24 hours but sometimes a day or two. The earlier the events are posted the better to ensure the maximum

advertising of the event. Events can be posted as soon as dates are known even for years ahead if dates are confirmed.
