It is said to have been haunted for some time, apparently at one point in its history, the castle was left in the charge of a unpricipled man servent, he persuaded his girl friend, a local girl, to come and visit him at the castle. The girl was never seen again.
An intensive search was made of the castle and grounds, but no trace of her could be found. Soon afterwards, the man servent left the castle and the area. It is thought that it was the girls ghost that drove him away, as her ghost has been seen frequently running up and down the corridors, screaming in great terror. Many years later, when alternations were been made to the castle, a womans skeleton was found bricked up in one of the walls and was given a decent burial.
