Water day for east coast Sutherland village

THE water supply to Golspie has been restored after it was disrupted for several hours because of a burst pipe.
Utilities company Scottish Water was alerted to the problem at about 0600 GMT. It said engineers had carried out repairs by 1000 GMT and supplies were restored soon after that.
The burst forced Golspie Primary School to close for the day and affected the village's Lawson Memorial Hospital. Last month, a burst cut off water supplies to the village.
Businessman Graham Phillips, director of Golspie-based Phillips Aitchison Consultants, said there had been other previous problems.
He said: "Today we have our sixth complete water outage in three years, the fifth in a year and the third in three months."
NHS Highland said Lawson hospital had a small reservoir of water that provides a back-up supply.
She said staff conserved water by using alcohol-based hand gel to keep their hands clean.
Lorraine Coe, clinical nurse manager for Sutherland, said: "For other hand hygiene purposes, such as cleaning their hands before eating, patients are using clinically medicated wipes.
"Hand hygiene is of paramount importance at all times."
