£800 embezzled from Thurso club
A THURSO man has admitted embezzling £800 from a local club, at Wick Sheriff Court.
Alexander Gemmell of the town’s Trostan Terrace, admitted the fraud which occurred between July and October, last year, at the Thurso Club in Janet Street, where he was employed.
The case was continued for reports until March 18 and a personal appearance by the 60-year-old accused.

Fourth no-insurance offence
Philip Plummer was fined £200 and banned from driving for 18 months after he admitted driving without insurance. His latest such offence occurred on various roads between Thurso and Georgemas, on November 28.
The court was told that he was doing a driving favour for a friend who had assured him he was covered.
Sheriff Andrew Berry said that having been convicted of the same offence, on three previous occasions, Plummer, 46, of Argyle Square, Wick, should have known to check the documentation carefully.
