As we all know the days of 100% Mortgages are gone and just wondering if any other "first time buyers" out there are feeling a bit hasty about rushing onto this?

We are currently setting aside a bit of money each month so we have a bit of a deposit to start us off but with us both being on basic salaries don't really no where to start.
Have used online mortages calculators to see if we can get a rough estimate on what we will be able to borrow, but to be honest we don't feel they are realistic for our income and seem to be able to give us over the odds.
Can anyone recommend any websites we could use to allow us basic knowledge or anyone local who can give us some free advice?
