Finding a Pet Sitter

I've been thinking lately about finding someone to feed my small furries when I go on holidays and ad hoc nights/weekends away. I think I will try and make up an advert on here but first of all I just wondered what sort of things I should take into account. What would you look for in the person? Anything I should bear in mind?;)

A pet sitter has an advert in the waiting room in at the vets in Wick. Can't remember the name or location, but I'm sure if you phoned them they could help

I would expect them to have at least a basic knowledge of how each type of animal they care for exhibits symptoms of being unwell.
