How on earth it took 12 weeks to come to that conclusion beats me....

Hope he has to get his cheque book out now to pay for the (in his words)

"Several million pounds of public money was spent investigating me and my wife."

I think he omitted to finish off the sentence with "s guilt"

So, do they now have to prosecute him for perjury during this trial? And what about Mrs S? This trial cleared her but as she supported him surely that was perjury? This could be never ending in reality, instead of just apparently. Confused.:confused

Could we not just drop them in a snakepit somewhere and throw away the key? Save wasting any more money on trials! :Razz

There is an article on the BBC web site about perjury and whether the case should have been prosecuted:

I think he blew it in his closing speech, crying and using phrases like:
"..Only you (the jury) can separate me from my family this Christmas.."

Both Tommy and the wife should have been charged with bringing fake tan into disrepute - what a pair of satsumas, they look ridiculous!

If Mr. Sheridan is guilty, then surely Mrs. Sheridan has to be guilty also? :confused

He's guilty of perjury, lying under oath, I mean the man was only having a party... it happens every weekend...

So, perjury. Lying under oath. Lying to the judge, lying in the name of the lord, it's all nonsense. The only thing he's guilty of is costing the economy millions.

Sheridan has done more harm to the Scottish Socialist movement as a whole than any right wing political party could ever hope to do.

Good riddance to the self serving, lying, arrogant champagne socialist.

Ah; 'Newsnet Scotland' :they endorse the Scottish National Party, don't they? Ian Hamilton QC (84) - he was the one years ago as a young law student stole the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey wasn't he?

Makes interesting reading:
"vendetta against a left wing politician" (Hamilton's a SNP bloke)
"connivance of the Lord Advocate"
"political miscarriage of justice"
"The Lord Advocate is a member of the Scottish government and the government was the pimp"
"No doubt the Lord Advocate was leant on by Rupert Murdoch’s employees"
"while the gangster bosses go free"
"I declare my interest. I am a friend of Mr and Mrs Sheridan"
"I also am a republican"
"It was motivated entirely by a desire to placate a powerful press baron."

Goodness me - sounds just like Tommy, that does!
What was it? 14 of his closest friends said that Tommy told them he was the MSP named in the rag - surely they did not ALL hate him? but then, maybe they did..

Oh Yea Hamilton writes:
Q.)No attempt was made to have the tape examined by a voice expert.
A.)The newspaper claims to have had the tape examined by four voice verification experts including, bizarrely, a voice verification expert who had analysed tapes of Osama Bin laden for the FBI.

I personally was fascinated that Gail (stonewall) Sheridan, gave an alibi that Tommy was with her when it was stated he was having a romp in a Glasgow Hotel - wonder why Gail was ringing around that night, trying to find him..

The world's full of intrigue - he could be totally innocent, only he knows.. and he'll have c4 years to brood on it... And then again, if it is a stitch up by the News of the Screws, think how easy it will be for a nation like the USA to stitch up Julian Assange - now there's a thought!

Eh? What are you on about, man?

If the man was at a sex club, so what. Every human can do whatever he or she wishes. I think it's ridiculous how the media have labelled him for visiting a sex club, let him do what he wants.

I don't know who I'm more sceptical of, the Sheridans, The Scottish Socialist Party or the News of the World - seems like scumbags accusing scumbags! And what a colourful social life our socialists have!

At least Sheridan had the decency to defend himself, save the taxpayers money on legal aid!

I think what is was, no one gives a toss if Tommy's a swinger, just that the News of The World (like it does) did a story on him; Tommy the non-drinking, non-smoking, non-druggie MSP whooping up with a couple of tarts.. Tommy none too happy. He 'could' have ignored it, called em liars and left it at that..
But nope, Tommy decides to take on the NTW - goes to Court the NTW looses and Tommy gets £200,000 (although he doesn't 'get' it, it's held in abeyance as the NTW decides to appeal), and eventually Tommy is tried once again - this time for perjury..
He loses.. But yes anyone has the right to do as they like, but 'celebrity's are and always have been 'fair game'...

One jury says the news of the world told porkies. Another says Sheridan did. Hmmm . . .who knows. Who cares.
