Las Vegas - which hotel

We're going on holiday next year and will be touring around but spending the first 2 nights in Vegas. There's such a plethora of hotels to choose from I can't decide.

We're wanting something nice (as also celebrating anniversary) either on the strip or close to it.

Has anyone any recommendations as to which hotel to stay in?

We stayed at the Stratosphere, which was nice, rollercoaster and restaurant up top. it was a short walk to the rest of the strip , the taxi's are cheap and the trolley buses are safe and reliable.
If we went again though, we would probably stay at Circus Circus as a little closer to the other hotels

"The Hotel" as part of Mandalay Bay is ace at the opposite end of the strip to the stratosphere. If you're only there for a couple of days you'd be better staying closer to the main part of the strip rather than at the Stratosphere end as it's a lot to get around and that ends a little run down for walking around at night all imho.
