My hobby's digital photography; I concentrate on producing panoramic images - landscapes mostly, but other subjects can be treated the same way. The file sizes tend to be enormous (some run upwards of 40MB), as does the finished image size so these examples are compressed to within half a pixel of their lives and resized to a fraction of the original:

Here's a sunrise over the island of Copinsay, with the sun illuminating the unusual cloud formation:

This one's the beach at Dingieshowe, East Mainland, one evening. A local farmer was launching his RIB for an evening's fishing.

Here's a sunset over St Peter's Pool, again in the East Mainland:

And the same place from a different angle at the height of summer:

If you've been to Orkney you'll know the Barriers between the South Isles. Here's Barrier 3 and a blockship:

I lied in the thread header; this one's Shetland, Jarlshof to be precise:

Sunset at Harray Loch; unfortunately I only had a little pocket camera with me and the lens wasn't really up to the job. The dark bandings are caused by edge imperfections in the lens. A shame, but that's life.......

This is looking north to the Third Barrier, with the Second Barrier in the background further right:

No, rs2k, I haven't any panoramics from that area. One or two snapshots of Rackwick on a truly miserable wet day is all! Thank you all for your kind words....

Your pictures brought back recent memories of my first visit to Orkney,
with the '06 Clan Gunn Gathering.
I can't wait to return.
Thanks and regards

Sorry, Dave; missed your post until just now. Two images per post to the board, and as many posts as you like with two images in them!

A couple of panoramic pics taken in the last few days:

The tidal causeway at the Holm of Grimbister. The HoG is a 40 acre island with a farm on it. At low tide there's enough of a causeway to get a 4x4 or tractor across:

And the disused farmhouse at Mirkady Point in the East Mainland. This image is one of the bigger ones; printed at 72 dpi it would be a fraction less than 3 metres long, and .6 metre wide. The raw pic is 8400 pixels wide.

Mirkady again; not a successful from a visual standpoint but worked well from the stitching poiint of view:

Not panoramic, but I love the rocky foreshores in these northern parts:

And one of my favourite things - a rockpool. I could sit and look into these pools for hours. So much beauty, so disordered, and yet so ordered.

Must stop all this waxing lyrical stuff. Not good for my image
