I wrote this some years ago - well actually when River Dance hit the Stage. I heard a version of what the story was behind River Dance, about the continual process of rain falling on the hills trickling into burns, then rivers and finally into the sea where, as we know, it condenses, becomes clouds which in turn drop rain on the hills. I thought I'd have a go at doing a poem about that. The following is where I got to though should have been somewhat longer. It was published.

Hope you like.

JOURNEY

Teardrops fall onto dry skin –
Many have gone before.
Their meeting –
A fleeting
Part of history.
Raindrops fall onto dry bed rock –
Others have gone before.
Their meeting –
A fleeting
Part of history.

Dewdrops fall onto dry brown grass –
Like those that fell before.
Their meeting –
A fleeting
Part of history.

Each journey begins with that single drop –
A journey that never ends.
Rain that rolls down dry slopes –
Flows in a lemming rush –
Who’ve done it all before.

Ahead and beyond,
Across and around,
Drop becomes pool,
Pool becomes stream,
Stream becomes river,
River becomes sea,
Sea becomes cloud –
Which falls as drops.

Maybe everybody was stunned into silence! lol

No seriously it is beautiful. Where did you get it published and do you have any more poems?

Couldn't hear the gentle rain for the 'storm' about Terrorists etc I expect.

Published in small anthology type booklets - nothing that would make me rich and famous.

I have another ready but won't risk posting it while things are so busy.

Thanks for your comments. You into writing?

I enjoyed that...Thank you.
Just the type of thing I enjoy after being out for a couple of drinks on a Saturday evening..
Just to help me "chillout"

Pleased you enjoyed, though I hope you didn't have to go out for a drink (or two) just to be able to enjoy! lol
Thanks anyway.

Would love to read your other poem!

I used to love writing stories when I was at school but, sadly, haven't written since.

Keep the poems coming! Makes a nice change.:D
