British Gas has become the latest energy company to increase their prices, announcing a 7 per cent increase last month.

Should we now consider re-nationalising the energy companies?

A moneysaving website (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/poll/30-11-2010/would-you-re-nationalise-the-energy-companies) (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/poll/30-11-2010/would-you-re-nationalise-the-energy-companies) is conducting a poll on whether or not energy companies should be re-nationalised.
At the time of posting 2,490 people have voted, with the results being
121 or 5% of respondents would keep things the way they are
1001 (40%) say keep it private but price rises should be controlled by the regulator
The majority of people however, 1368 (55%) of votes cast would re-nationalise the energy companies.

It would be interesting to see how many of British Gas original shareholders still retain the shares that they were conned into buying by Thatcher.
That sale i.e. asking people to buy shares in something that they already owned, must go down as one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the UK people.
