Hello,

I am writing from Canada and trying to trace my family roots. Here is my family information I have:

My great grandfather is John Smith Stewart, born February 16, 1864 in Wick, Scotland. He was son of David Stewart (fish curer) and Margaret Moore. I also know our family had a home in Argyle Square. My great grandfather left for America in September 1887 and before he left a presentation was made to him by a cousin John F Campbell. Not a lot to go by but if there is anybody out there that can add to this family line I would love to hear from you.

That is a great start - thanks! So my great grandfather was a pupil teacher before he went on to become a doctor. That has to be him (John S) as he was born in 1864 and would have been 17 by 1881. The family book is quite old, so his father's name could well have been Daniel and not David - my aunt had trouble reading some of the passages. Now to see where our family branches or if anyone is still residing in Wick???
