View Full Version : Starlings
Anyone else noticed the decrease in the number of Starlings. For the past 9 years we have had thousands roosting on the cliffs here in Brough, this year there are hardly any.

They must all have moved to Halkirk. I would agree that over several years thier numbers have been declining but this year they seem to have had a sucessful season. The flock I see is - subjectively - larger than recent years.
Quite a lot about starlings on last night's Autumnwatch. BBC1
I think the Starling is one of the most underated birds around, check out it's Winter coat in these photos, looks even better than it's summer coat. This is the time of year when we start to receive large influxes of these birds from further afield.
