I had the misfortune when we came to week to end up really ill in Caithness general for 2 weeks and i was talking to a nurse about different areas of the town and she said oh you mean Spam town ?? (Proudfoot rd area) but for the life of me i cannot remember why it was called this ? Any one any ideas about the area how long its been up etc

I'm from the central belt but it used to be that when someone referred to somewhere as "Spam Valley" or "Spam town" it usually meant that the occupants had spent so much in buying a big fancy house that they could only afford to eat spam.

Or at least that was my understanding.

It is called SPAM AVE as all the people who live in that area are up to thier eyes in debt ie(new car, holiday 2 x a year etc) so therfore all they can afford to eat is SPAM:D
