I tried to get a pic of the pointy end, but too many trees in the way, this is the best I could manage:

I'm going to try and check the details but I understand she will depart there on Wednesday and then come round the North of Scotland en route to Newcastle so hopefully a final chance to see her up here as she passes through the Pentland Firth.
edit:
HMS Ark Royal will sail out of the river on Wednesday (November 17) for the final time, leaving Glen Mallan around 10am.
Her farewell voyage will take her around the north of Scotland, before she makes a short journey down the north east coast of England and into Newcastle, where she was built by Swan Hunters at Wallsend.
Good pictures yet again Phill; I like the one of the "pointy" end; looks as if she is lurking!
Thanks Torvaig, no doubt some mariner type will come along and try and tell me it's not called the pointy end :Razz
Nice shots Phill........how come you never got arrested?

I did, but they have WiFi in Barlinnie........and shiny new LCD telly's!
Great shots of the Ark Royal, pity it's a disgracefull end to what used to be the best navy, not to mention the best Air Force and best Army in the world . Now we don't even rate third world.
nirofo.
Good pictures! When will somebody use Wagner as the anchor for this ship......

Nope, pointy end is good,.
So is 'upstairs' and 'downstairs' - guaranteed to annoy.:Razz
It's been a long time since I was up that neck of the woods, the Ark Royal wasn't even comissioned then.
I feel old.
Good photo on a sad day for the navy.....criminal to reduce potential air support for our troops !!!

The last time we had such a sweeping 'defence review', it was administered by John Knott in 1981. The only reason they backpedalled on it was because of the Falklands War shortly after.
A classic case of defence capabilites being controlled by accountants.
It'll happen again, only this time, it will probably be too late to backpedal.[evil]
Off topic, sorry, but it really winds me up.
Good piccies, Phill.

Too true. The defence 'review' was a load of pish. Like scrapping the MRA4's, we've already bliddy well paid for 'em!
The future naval defence force:
