Try sinclairs bar for lunch and Henrietta Street Chip shop for your chips. They have short opening times so best check when they are open so you are not disapointed. As for castle of Mey not sure I have never been.

I would estimate about 1.5 hours for a look around the castle and grounds. If you are a real queen mum enthusiast maybe 2 hours. Traveltime to Mey from Wick via car, ~20-30mins. Please make sure Charlie isn't there as he is holidaying there atm.

I recommend the chippy on the corner of the main street and where you go down to Somerfields.

Orkneylass, being temporarily unable to thank you personally (don't ask  ), has commanded me (shhhh, don't tell anyone and definitely don't ask  ) to thank Naefearjustbeer and Rheghead on her behalf for the advice they've given on chippies and the Castle of Mey. It's appreciated and I'm sure she'll raise a chip or ten - and maybe a can of Fanta, too - to your health when she's there making her contribution to the local economy.........
