You can't beat the smell of Jet Fuel in the morning:

Great shots Phill, love aircraft thanks for posting. :)
Holds hand up....please sir, do you get the same smell from a prop plane as a jet. do they burn the same aviations fuel?
Most modern propeller driven planes will be turboprop i.e. essentially the same basic type of engine as a Jet engine. Except for smaller General Aviation planes which will be a similar engine to that of a car and fuelled by Avgas, called piston engines.
A jet & turboprop / turbine engine have the same basic principle of compressing jet fuel to either turn a propeller or produce thrust from the exhaust gases.
Some older larger aircraft do have piston engines like the DC3's that still fly today however some have had conversions to turboprop engines.
Also there are some old large Eastern block aircraft that are piston engine powered.
Pretty much all passenger aircraft with propellers will be jet fuelled turboprops with exception to some small (10 seater size) planes that operate on small trips like around the Western Isles.
Jet Fuel is basically the same stuff you shove in oil central heating, the only difference is the quality control. And pretty much does smell the same from a jet or turboprop, however the new Typhoon does smell distinctly different (dunno why).
Avgas is basically petrol although higher octane and has some lead in. People that own old motorcycles often use a mix of this with normal petrol and some car & bike racers also use a blend due to the higher octane.
This does smell very different, similar to a very old car that is running rich.
Great shots Phill, love aircraft thanks for posting. :)
Thanks Wicker, always happy to share. Missed the Antonov 124 this morning though :~(
Thanks for the explanation about the smell of the fuel, much appreciated.
My extensive world tour expanded today, a chance shot of an Emirates 777 approaching Glasgow. 'twas a very bumpy approach.
