Good luck to Thurso on their Gala Week.
Hope the weather is kind to them as it helps bring the spectators out to see what goes on.
Saw the burning of the long boat a few years ago while visiting and it was quite spectacular!!

It looks like you are having a glorious day for the festivities.

Thanks for the traffic signs in the backgound. That is what made it "real" Thurso for me.

I seem to be having a problem seeing anything on the webcam. Can anyone help me as to what to do. All I can see is the words Caithness web cam.

Venture - you shouldn't have to do anything. I think the link keeps dropping - I've seen some pictures then it goes back to "Caithness Web Cam". Patience required here which is why I gave up - I don't have any. :)

Cheers for that Moira I will keep trying anyway.

Anything but the tractor would be nice, fine example of the breed though it is! Or is it just a problem with my ISP?

Great idea wih the webcam - was really looking forward to seeing the gala in all its glory! Really disappointing though - same picture for the last hour! Don't know what went wrong with the webcam - we're only in Aberdeen and have a Broadband connection. Just pointing this out for future reference - don't want to disappoint any other ex-pats.......

Keep up the good work - wish we could have been there to join in the fun!!

Thanks to everyone who logged in to see the live stream. We ran from 5pm (start of children's fancy dress competition) until 7.50pm (floats on their second run around the block). At that point we grabbed the camcorder and headed off to capture some footage of the burning of the Viking boat at the Ellan Bridge car park. That's why the final image (tractor) was still there but it's now been replaced with a picture taken by Mrs Bob of the burning boat.

As the whole event was recorded on camcorder we're going to try and put together a reasonable sized clip on the tv.caithness.org site - watch these spaces...

Unfortunately, I missed the live stream, as I was at work. :(

But I'm looking forward to seeing action replay on the forthcoming video clip!

Oops sorry - at that point I was listening to the PA while struggling to keep the feed going so automatically assumed (should always be wary of assuming) when the name Margaret was mentioned that it would be Lady Thurso. My apologies to Margaret McDonald, your daughter and anyone else who noticed!
